I just saw a mobile ambulance at the entrance of the residential complex in this small county town. Staff members were standing nearby with a roster (it looked like a list of priority individuals), making phone calls one by one, while medical personnel in full protective gear sat in the vehicle, waiting for the test subjects with cotton swabs in hand. At that moment, I found myself wondering how far I am from the epidemic now. The point is, I have a ticket back to school on the 12th; please, spare me.
刚在小县城小区门口看到了流动救护车，工作人员站在一旁拿着花名册（似乎是重点人群名单）挨个打电话，医护人员全副武装坐在车上拿着棉签等待受检者。这个时候我在想，我离疫情的距离还有多远。重点是，我12号的票回学校啊，放过我。

By a lake in northern Punjab, I saw this great egret, gazing into the distance with a vigilant expression. At first, I wasn't sure of its name, but a few friends in relevant fields told me it’s a "great egret." Its sharp eyes and dignified posture seemed to hold stories waiting to be told. Every time I go to the local aquarium, there is a sea lion that especially likes to play with my son Sean, and that is how I learned its name is Milo. Sean would toss my keys in an arc, and Milo loves to chase the keys swimming along the pool glass, and can play like this for a long time, never tiring of it. Photograph by John Goodman
