Sheng is layered and nested, like a tree: the roots, trunk, branches, and leaves all serve and depend on each other in layers.
Every unit on the tree must confirm at every moment:
Have I served those above well?
Have I served those below well?
Have those above served me well?
Have those below served me well?
Only when all four points can be answered in the affirmative is Sheng in its normal state.
